Adding a place
Know a good place to stop that is not on the map? Add it, and once it is checked everyone can find it.
Starting
You need to be logged in. There are two ways in:
- Tap Add place, the pin with a plus on the bar at the bottom of the map: a pin drops in the middle of the map.
- Or press and hold on the map where the place is: the pin drops there.
A menu opens. Tap Add location, then choose what you are adding: Car park, Motorhome stopover, Campsite or Service point. Remove pin takes the pin away again.
The steps
The bar at the top shows how far through you are, and Back takes you back a page.
- Where & what: check the pin is in the right place and check the address. For a car park or a stopover, also choose the kind of place.
- The essentials: only the name is needed, and for a service point at least one service. Skip anything you are not sure of.
- Photos: up to 3 photos of the place.
- About: a few words about it.
- Then a few pages about what suits that kind of place, such as opening times, height barriers, stays and payment.
- Check and send: check what you have added, then tap Submit for review.
Saved drafts
The app saves your place on this phone as you go. To carry on later, open the same menu again and tap Continue your draft. If you leave from the first page, choose Save draft to keep it. A draft is kept for 14 days, but photos in a draft only for 20 hours.
After you send it
Your place is checked before it appears on the map. Until then only you can see it, in My submissions: tap Menu, the three lines at the bottom right of the map, then My submissions under My contributions. Each place there says Waiting for review, Published or Declined. Tap a published place to open it.
If it is declined
A declined place shows the reason, when one was given. To fix it:
- In My submissions, tap Edit and resubmit.
- Change what is needed.
- Tap Resubmit.
It is then checked again.
