Finding a place to stay

The map shows places to stop near you, and a tap on any of them tells you what you need to know.

The map

Each pin is a place: the picture inside it shows what kind of place it is. A circle with a number holds several places close together; tap it to zoom in. A blue dot shows where you are, once you let the app use your location.

You can look at the map without an account.

Map or list

Map and List, under the search box on the right, switch between the map and a list of the same places, nearest first. Tap a row in the list to open that place.

The place card

Tap a pin to see its card at the bottom of the screen: a photo, the name, how far away it is, its rating and its price. Tap the card to open the place's page. Tap the cross, or tap the map, to close it.

The place's page

The page starts with photos, the name and a short summary: whether you can stay the night, whether it is open, whether your vehicle fits, the price and the rating. Below that are the facilities, the description and sections such as Will I fit?, Pricing and Contact. Recent activity shows what other people have said.

Getting there

Tap Navigate at the bottom of the page. A screen with a small map and the address opens:

  1. Tap Navigate to choose a maps app on your phone, or Open in Google Maps.
  2. Follow the directions in that app.

RoamOver does not give turn-by-turn directions itself.

The bar at the bottom

From left to right:

Hold your finger on an icon to see its name.
