Planning a trip

Plan where you'll go, choose a place to stay at each stop, and keep your notes with you, even with no signal.

Starting a trip

Tap Trips, the route icon on the bar at the bottom of the map. Your trips are listed, the one you changed last first, each with its dates and how many stops it has.

  1. Tap New trip.
  2. Give it a name, then tap Create.

The trip opens, ready for its first stop. At the top are its dates, worked out from its stops, and its Notes: tap Add notes to write anything about the whole trip.

Adding a stop

  1. Tap Add stop.
  2. Type a town, city or postcode. Places show as you type: tap the one you mean, or press search to take the first match.

The stop opens straight away so you can set its dates and choose a stay. A new stop arrives on the day the stop before it leaves, when that is known. Finding a place by name is part of a subscription with searching, as it is on the map.

Dates and nights

On a stop, tap Arrive to pick the day you get there, and use the minus and plus buttons beside Nights to say how long you stay. No nights is a Day visit. Leave shows the day you go, once both are set. Each change is saved as you make it: there is no save button.

The place keeps the name you found it by, but you can shorten it under Place: "Keswick" rather than the full address. To pick a different place, open the menu at the top right and tap Change place.

Choosing a stay

  1. Under Where to stay, tap Choose a stay.
  2. A map opens on the stop, with our places around it, filtered as your map is. Move the map, or search for a place at the top.
  3. Tap a place to see how far it is from your stop. Tap Details for its page, or Choose this stay.

The stay shows on the stop: tap it to open the place's page. Change stay picks another and Remove stay takes it off.

Notes

Each stop has its own Notes for anything you want to remember there: a key to collect, a ferry to catch. The first line shows on the trip's list of stops.

Reordering and removing

On a trip, drag a stop by the handle on its right to move it, and the stops are numbered again. To take a stop off, open it and tap Remove stop in the menu. To rename a trip or delete it, open the menu at the top right of the trip and tap Rename or Delete trip.

Part of the subscription

Trips are part of a subscription. Without one, Trips opens a page that says Trips are part of a subscription. The trips you planned before are not deleted: they are hidden, and come back just as they were when you subscribe again.

Without signal

The trips and stops you have opened are kept on the phone, with the places you chose to stay at, so they open with no signal. The list then says Offline โ€” showing saved trips and when it was updated. Changing a trip needs a connection: with no signal a change is not saved, and nothing waits to be sent later.

Logging out

Logging out removes your trips from the phone, but not from your account. Log in again and open Trips with a connection to get them back.
