Searching and filtering

The filters show only the places that suit you, tonight, on your dates or any time.

Opening the filters

Tap the filter button beside the search box at the top of the map. The sheet Where can I stay? opens:

Tap Show places to see the results. Reset goes back to the filters the app starts with, and Cancel closes the sheet without changing anything.

Tonight and Next 3 nights

Tonight shows places that are open today, where you can stay the night and, if you have set your vehicle, that it fits. Tonight is chosen when you first use the app. Next 3 nights checks the same for three nights in a row. To choose these checks yourself, pick Any time and open More filters.

Might match

Most filters only hide a place when it is known not to match. If something you filtered on is not known for a place, it stays on the map as an outlined pin, and its card shows Might match with the facts that are missing. Type of place, Brand, Facilities and Overnight allowed (confirmed) are different: they only show places known to have what you picked.

Searching by name

The search box finds a town, city or postcode, a business or landmark, a company, and RoamOver places by name. The map moves to what you pick and keeps your zoom.

A company, such as a chain of service areas or a club, shows under Companies. Tap it to see only that company's places: the map goes to the nearest one, and a chip with the company's name sits under the search box. While the chip is up you can search for a town to see the company's places there. Tap the cross on the chip to see every place again. Your filters stay as you set them.

When you find a business or landmark that RoamOver does not have, a pin drops on it for anyone who can add places. Tap the pin to open its menu: Add location starts a new place there, and Remove pin takes the pin away.

Searching is part of a subscription: without one the box shows a lock, and tapping it tells you more. You can still move the map anywhere and use the filters.

Saved filters

When you are logged in, you can keep a set of filters to use again:

  1. Set the filters you want.
  2. Tap Save filter… at the bottom of the sheet.
  3. Give it a name and tap Save.

Your saved filters show as buttons under Your filters: tap one to use it. Manage lets you rename or delete them. A saved filter keeps your type of place and More filters, but not your When choice, and you can keep up to 20.
