Sharing a place
Send a place to someone as a link they can open with or without the app.
Sending a place
- Open the place's page.
- Tap the three dots at the top right (More actions).
- Tap Share.
- Choose how to send it: a message, an email or another app on your phone.
You can share a place whether you are logged in or not.
What the message carries
The message has the place's name, its address if it has one, where it is on the map as two numbers, and a link. The link names the place and nothing else: not who you are, and not where you are. No photos are sent.
Opening a link with the app
If RoamOver is on the phone, tapping the link opens the place's page in the app, whether or not the person is logged in. If the place has been taken off the app since it was shared, the app says so.
Opening a link without the app
On a phone without RoamOver, the link opens a page on our website. It does not show the place itself. It has a button to open the place in RoamOver and one to get the app from Google Play. Once the app is installed, the same link opens the place in the app.
Good to know
- A shared link keeps working for as long as the place is in the app.
- The address and map numbers in the message are plain text, so they still help someone who never opens the link.
- To find your way to a place someone sent you, open it and tap Navigate.
